This week we helped to answer a call from Claire McKeich a nurse from Derriford Hospital who asked on social media if anyone could help by making face mask clips (to relieve the elastic on the mask which goes behind the ears).
Firstly, a very big thank you to Spotlight South West for highlighting the difficult times many Blood Bike charities are currently having regarding donations from the public.
During this unprecedented time with COVID-19 affecting every one of us directly, we are not able to go about our daily business as we normally would. Our volunteers are available around the clock 24 hours a day to provide help and assistance to the NHS as well as essential organisations around them.
We are amazed and proud to have been Nominated for the Outstanding Care Awards in Devon & Cornwall in the volunteer sector. This wouldn't be possible without all of the hard work and effort put in by each and every one of our volunteers.
We are delighted at having received notification that we have been shortlisted as a finalist in the Community Group Award category at Plymouth Community Honours 2019 run by the The Herald and Plymouth Live.
We now have the vehicles required to support the charity in the work that we do.
We are delighted that as of today we are formally registered with the Charity Commission which provides us with a charity number which allows us to show the public that we are a recognised bona fida charity.
