The charity started in Plymouth, and still maintains a base in the city, but we now have three teams operating, with the other teams being based in Plymouth and North Devon.
A fourth team in Exeter is planned for later on during 2022, subject to our having been able to purchase two further Blood Bikes, and a support vehicle.
However, our existing set up already means that we are able to respond promptly to demands for our services from anywhere within the County of Devon.
Plus, our being the official Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes member for Devon (the only group so accredited), we form part of a Nationwide chain of around 1,200 Blood Bikes, meaning we can quickly and efficiently move any items across the entire UK and Eire, by working in relay with our neighbouring groups to get the job done.
A new development is the Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes work with the Civil Air Patrol, a group of volunteers who own their own private aircraft, who if we had a particularly urgent consignment we could call on to help move an item from a local airfield by air to it's destination (or vice versa), further increasing our capabilities.
